Hello my name is Josh Cakebread and i am from Adelaide, South Australia and i am interested in playing ball over in the Europe for this coming season. I am 25 years old i am 5ft 9 and weigh 80kgs. I am a middle infielder whos prefers short stop but play second base equally as good and swing the bat from the left side. I am looking to play ball overseas so i can better my game, see how baseball is played in a different country and also experience the culture. I have good speed (4 seconds from home to first) and have a strong arm.


I have represented my state at all juniour levels from under 14's, under 16's, 18's and 23's and currently am playing in the mens South Australian team in a tournament called the claxton shield, a very prestigious and long running national competition in Australia. 70% of the players playing in this are professionally signed by US clubs and play in the claxton shield to prepare themselves for their seasons and spring training in the US. There are a lot of guys in the competition that are at a AA level or higher including 10 guys who are currently on 40 man rosters for various clubs including Grant Balfour of the Tampa Bay Rays. The claxton shield is of a very high standard and last year i was lucky enough to win the golden glove award for the most oustanding fielder for the season for the entire claxton shield. i had some 80 chances in the field for 0 errors. I have also spent sometime over in independant ball over in the US playing in a league called the frontier league where i played second base.

In the meantime i play in a summer league over in South Australia called the South Australian Baseball League and I play for a team called the Port Adelaide Magpies. I am the starting Short stop for that team and last year we managed to win the championship. I am currently playing with ryan murphy who is big name player over in holland and he reccommended i post on this website. The season was 40 games long and i have stats for from the 2007/08 season as well as the 2008/09season if you are interested in viewing them and am currently in my 2009/10 season. I hit .331 for the year last year and lead the league in stolen bases and made the all star team for the league as the starting short stop. The 2007/08 year i hit .375 in what was a good year with the bat for me. If you are interested in viewing these sats further i can send them to you via email.

My dad was also a scout for the LA Dodgers for 10 years and also spent some time with the cincinatti reds scouting for them. He also played ball when he was younger and played college in california for many years and also was signed briefly with the Kansas city Royals and so i have been around baseball my whole life and have developed a sound knowledge and a true love and a passion for the game.

I would truly love to come over and play ball somewhere in Europe and i am hoping i can find a spot to play somewhere so i can have fun and better my game but also hopefully add something to a team they may need such as good defense, speed on the basepaths and a left handed swinger in the line up.
