They took a fast 1-0 lead in the opening frame on a RBI single by Raily Legito. They doubled the score in the fifth, when Zair Koeiman stole home. Taiwan threatened to come back in the ninth, reducing the deficit to a run with a RBI single by Hsin-Min Wang, but Ming-Jen Kuo flied out to right field to end the game. Diegomar Markwell struck out seven in 7 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing seven hits and a walk for the win. Chih-Lung Huang conceded five hits, two runs and three bb in seven innings to take the loss.
