NETTUNO scored four runs in the last three innings, including on a walk-off RBI single by Igor Schiavetti in the ninth to beat GROSSETO 4-3 in the IBL on Thursday. One frame earlier Ramon Tavarez had tied the contest with a two-run single. MONTEPASCHI had taken a 3-1 lead in the top of the eighth. Raul Marval drove in two for the ORIOLES. Jeff Farnsworth (NET) struck out 13 in 7 1/3 innings, allowing six hits, three runs and a walk. Juan Figueroa (GRO) gave up four hits, an unearned run and a bb in seven innings. Remigio Leal picked up the win. James Vermilyea took the loss.

SAN MARINO scored three runs in the fifth of a 5-3 win over PARMA on Thursday evening in the Italian Baseball League. Max De Biase, Francesco Imperiali and Riccardo Suardi collected the RBIs during the important rally. Alex Sambucci (PAR) and Carlos Duran (SMA) exchanged solo homeruns. Horacio Estrada earned the win with seven solid innings, allowing six hits and two runs. He struck out twelve. Oscar Lira surrendered eight hits, five runs and two bb starting for CARIAPARMA.

BOLOGNA started the game against GODO by scoring five runs in the first two frames. DE ANGELIS tried to come back and cut the deficit to a run in the sixth. But FORTITUDO answered right away with grand slam by Joseph Mazzuca in the seventh to seal the 9-4 victory. Juan Carlos Infante and Richard Austin also homered for BOLOGNA. Felix Escalona put the ball over the fence for the home team. Jesus Matos issued eight hits, four runs (3 ER) and three bb in seven innings for the win. Victor Moreno closed it out with four strikeouts in two frames. Emmanuel Ulloa took the loss, allowing seven hits, six runs and five walks in six-plus innings. He collected seven K?s.
