Default Players Wanted

London Mets Baseball Club - Winter training sessions start on Sunday 15 February 2009 and every Sunday there after.

Please note: All our paid positions have been taken, we are now looking for players that are happy to play for free!!

The London Mets Baseball Club is currently looking for new players of all abilities to become part of our expanding adult baseball programme in 2009. We are looking to recruit players at every level - serious competitors for the NBL or AAA teams - or beginners, rookies and youth players for our new AA team.

We currently have 3 adult teams looking to take on new players:

London Mets (NBL National Champions 2007 & 2008)
London Metros (British AAA 2008 finalists)
London Marauders (New team for British A Division in 2009)

We will be holding our first training session on Sunday 15 February at Barnard Park in Islington from 11am – 2pm, and then we'll be back every Sunday after that from 10am- 1pm.

These sessions are for ALL prospective (and current) players to come along and blow the cobwebs out, register an interest in the 2009 season and show us what they've got!

Barnard Park is at the junction of Copenhagen Street and Barnsbury Road, Islington N1 0JU. The Park is close to Angel tube. We will be training on a Redgra football pitch area, so the weather should not be a problem. If you need further directions or more information - or if you are a new player and will need to borrow equipment, please let us know.

Spring Training will be at Finsbury Park on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, probably from mid-March. Our leagues play fixtures on Sundays from May onwards.

Background

The London Mets are based in Finsbury Park N4, where we have our clubhouse and diamonds. We are one of the most successful baseball clubs in Britain and the only baseball club in central London. We foster a friendly and positive atmosphere at the club, with an emphasis on fun and good sportsmanship, development of skills and encouragement for all players to try their best at every level. This has been a winning combination: the London Mets are the current National Baseball League Champions, winning the title two years in a row. We also have a AAA team (London Metros) who made the Final 4 National Championships this year and will expand to field a new AA team (London Marauders) next season. The award-winning club is built around a very successful youth programme with teams for players from 7 through to 16 which has developed in recent years to add our three very exciting adult teams in addition to an outreach programme in schools and communities that has reached more than 6500 participants in 2008. We have been able to bring a coach over from the USA or Canada to work at the club through the Summer for the last 3 years.
