Default US College eligibility

Does anyone know whether or not a player loses his college eligibility to play baseball at a US college if he signs a contract with a European team?

If you receive any money at all for playing the game you are ineligible. You play non-profesionally and still have eligibility, but the minute you sign a pro contract, you have voided your NCAA eligibility.

Thanks Heavesrock. Is it only money they can't accept or does the lodging and other things that European teams offer also make a player ineligible?

I believe players can recieve lodging and food, as there are several academies in the US that do that and send players to college. I'm sure there are regulations on what can be done, but I am not sure what they are.

Default only if u disclose it

basically becuase no one from the states will know if u have played in europe you are still able to go from proball in europe to college in the states, i had the same intial question but a friend of mine who is a scout for Pratt University informed me that there are many loopholes and ways to avoid that clause for playing college ball

Default Be careful

You can't receive any gifts or anything for free except TEAM equipment. However, you can get paid and receive gifts and still play NAIA baseball for four years. If you are exceptional teams ARE going to look into where you have played.... colleges aren't dumb. I work at a NCAA school and they will do all the research, so that they don't get sanctioned or punished for signing a former pro. So these so called loopholes.... and there are some, should be looked into before signing.
